Terms of Service

Last updated: May 28, 2026

Important notice

These Terms have not been reviewed by an attorney and are not legal advice. They are provided to explain how the Aurora service works in plain language. Aurora and Aurora Media Centerrefer to the software product and related website at auroramediacenter.com, not a separate company. Throughout these Terms, "we," "us," and "our" refer to the operator of the Service at auroramediacenter.com.

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legally binding agreement between you ("User" or "you") and the operator of auroramediacenter.com ("we," "us," or "our") regarding your use of the Aurora website, the Aurora Media Center application, and related services (together, the "Service"). By accessing, using, or creating an account, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.

2. Service Description

Aurora provides a web-based platform for managing access to the Aurora media center application downloads. Our Service includes:

  • User account creation and management
  • Product access management and subscription services
  • Download access to Aurora application files
  • Optional cloud sync for eligible accounts (watch progress, library layout, and related app state)
  • Promo code system for product access
  • Email notifications and account communications
  • Administrative tools for user and product management

References to the "Application" mean the Aurora desktop media center software made available through the Service, in addition to the website itself.

3. Personal License and Downloads

Unless we provide a separate written license, access to Aurora software through the Service grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the Application for your personal, non-commercial use only.

  • One person per access: Each download entitlement, account, subscription, or access grant is intended for a single individual. You may not share login credentials, installer files, or download links with others in a way that lets multiple people use one paid or granted seat.
  • No redistribution: You may not resell, publicly redistribute, mirror, or make the Application available to third parties except as we expressly allow in writing.
  • Your devices: You may install the Application on devices you personally use, subject to any limits we publish for your access tier.
  • Access verification: We may use technical measures, account checks, or download logging to enforce these limits and protect against abuse.

4. Subscriptions, Pricing, and Feature Changes

Some features or access tiers may be free today and paid tomorrow, or vice versa. Because Aurora is actively developed, we need flexibility to change what is included in each plan.

  • We may add, remove, rename, limit, or change features at any time, including moving a feature from free to paid or from paid to a different tier.
  • We may change prices, subscription terms, or availability with notice where required by law or by the payment provider's rules. Continued use after a change takes effect may constitute acceptance where permitted.
  • Paid subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Billing, renewal, cancellation, and refunds are handled according to the checkout terms shown at purchase and applicable law.
  • If a feature you rely on changes or becomes paid, your remedy is to stop using that feature or cancel your subscription according to the billing terms available at that time, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

5. Beta, Early Access, and Development Status

Aurora is developed and operated primarily as a solo indie project. Builds labeled beta, tester, early access, or preview are experimental by nature.

  • Releases may contain bugs, incomplete features, performance issues, data loss, or temporary outages.
  • Updates may change behavior, remove features, or reset data without prior notice when needed for development or security.
  • You are responsible for backing up data that matters to you. Cloud sync, where available, is provided as-is and is not a guaranteed backup service.
  • By using pre-release or actively developed builds, you accept that breakage and rough edges are part of the experience.

6. User Obligations and Responsibilities

As a user of the Application, you acknowledge and agree that you are solely responsible for:

  • Complying with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction
  • Respecting intellectual property rights and copyright laws
  • The content you access through third-party addons
  • Ensuring you have proper rights to any content you stream or download

7. Third-Party Content and Add-ons

The Application may provide access to third-party content through user-installed add-ons. Aurora does not host, control, endorse, or assume responsibility for any third-party content, services, or add-ons. We expressly disclaim liability for:

  • The legality, accuracy, or quality of third-party content
  • The availability or functionality of third-party addons
  • Any damages resulting from the use of third-party addons or content

8. Prohibited Activities and Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Application for any unlawful or prohibited purpose. Specifically, you may not:

  • Access or distribute copyrighted content without proper authorization
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Share accounts, download links, or installer files to bypass per-user access limits
  • Distribute malware, viruses, or other harmful software
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Application except where applicable law expressly permits

9. Privacy and Data Collection

We collect and process information as described in our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you consent to such collection and processing. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we handle your data.

10. License and Intellectual Property

The Aurora website, its content, branding, and the Service are owned and operated by us. Software distributed through the Service is licensed to you under these Terms for personal use as described above, not sold. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of the website or distributed Application except as expressly permitted. The Aurora name and logo are used to identify the product. Open-source components included in the Application, if any, remain subject to their respective licenses.

11. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

THE APPLICATION IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES AND SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APPLICATION.

12. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the Application immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Application will cease immediately. All provisions of these Terms which by their nature should survive termination shall survive termination, including ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnity, and limitations of liability.

13. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will provide at least 30 days notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion. By continuing to access or use our Application after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms.

14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any legal action or proceeding arising under these Terms will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Texas, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of those courts.
